The Role
The experience was great! We worked in teams on real client work and were asigned parts of the audit to work on. Really felt part of the team and that I was contributing to the tasks!
Very welcoming to the team, also very helpful to answer any questions when I became stuck. They trusted me with client work and also to have conversations with the client which helped me build valuable experience!
Support networks in the company are fantastic. Always people you can speak to if you are stuck or don't understand something. Everyone has been very willing to help.
One of the most positive aspects of the internship was the amount of work we were given. I worked on 3 sepearte clients during my internship where we were set tasks from the audit to complete. Meant we were constantly busy, if we did finished assigned tasks, there were always other things that needed picking up on and the supervisors on our jobs were very helpful in making sure we had a suitable work load to manage.
While obviously I was never in charge of the work the team was doing, I was always assigned m a section of the work to complete, making me feel like a valued team memeber and a vital part of the completion of the work.
picked up vital skills on excell in particular throughout my internship which are valuable skills to have in any work placement or at university.
The Company
Very positive friendly atmosphere, everyone was always available to answer any questions I had. People in the office made me and the other intern feel very welcome and included us in social activities right from the start.
Very well organised, we were booked to jobs for our whole internship before we arrived. The supervisors on each job were very prompt in contacting us to introduce themselves and provide details of the job we would be working on.
In our first week we had a 3 day induction where tutors were sent to teach us valuable skills and understanding of the business before our internship started. This meant we were not going in completely blind before we strarted. Also had 2 development days throughout the internship to further develop skills required.
We find out the final day of the internship in a exit interview if we are to be offered a graduate job which is based on feedback we have received throughout our internship.
The Culture
There was only one other intern in the office but we went to several social events together.
I lived at home during my internship and socialising in Southampton is not too expensive!
There were one our two office social events organised and I also played for the office football team.
