    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The internship was very fun - I got to try out a range of different tasks through client work and also went on a few development days which were very engaging.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I was thanked a number of times for my work by my colleagues and built good friendships with a number of my colleagues during client work.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • On most occasions I feel like I received more than enough help whenever I needed it, however there were a couple of occasions when everyone was really busy with their own work and I felt like it was difficult to get a huge amount of help.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was very busy every day of the internship, but this is a good thing! The amount of work set for me to complete was perfect, so that I could get it all done but I had to work hard.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Throughout the 6 week internship I had around 5 weeks of client work. On each of the job I feel like I was given a good amount of responsibility as I was completing work in exactly the same fashion as my colleagues around me were.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Although not completely relevant to my degree (I study Chemistry), I feel that the confidence and organisational skills developed throughout the internship will be very beneficial throughout the rest of my studies.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Although only spending 2 days in the actual office, everyone was very friendly and there was a very positive vibe in the office.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The organisation of the internship was almost perfect - there were never any issues regarding where I had to be at any particular time and the staff who decide where I would work on client sites took into consideration that I live in Bristol (but I am in the Cardiff office) and tried to place me on jobs closer to my home. The only issue with organisation was that I feel that it wasn't taken into consideration that the interns were students and hence are likely not to have too much money - I had to pay around £1000 in travelling/hotel costs which isn't reimbursed for a few days.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • PwC went all out in terms of development and personal training, paying for all interns to attend a week-long induction and also arranging extra development days in Bristol and London. I do not feel that PwC could have realistically done any more in terms of development.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • N/A - have not had my final interview yet!

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes - we had a number of nights out and I feel like I have made a lot of friends amongst my fellow interns and other employees of PwC.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I worked in a number of different areas (Cardiff, Derby, Evesham) and, although travel/hotel costs were quite substantial, this was all reimbursed and the food allowance every evening on away jobs is very nice!

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife in Cardiff is excellent and PwC Cardiff run a months-end drinks event every month which is very popular.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Although not specifically outside of work, we all took part in a large project involving the BBC which was a lot of fun, ending up in a day and night out in London.
