    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my placement and I have enjoyed rotating around various engineering departments to get an insight into what happens in different areas of the company. I have had a good balance of technical work whilst getting some hands on experience also.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Most of the work I have been doing has been useful and valuable to my colleagues, especially in my last 6 months.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I have been given support and guidance by all of my managers / supervisors as I have required but I have also been left to get on with my work and seek solutions to problems on my own. I think the balance has been spot on.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Each day has varied depending on what department I have been in and what my responsibilities are but on the whole I have never been sat without anything to do. If I have ever been stuck for work I have never had an issue finding any.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • The amount of responsibility I was given again depended on which department I was in but I have been given responsibility for various projects as well as managing my own workload and meeting deadlines.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • There have been many training courses on offer during my placement which I have been able to attend to develop my knowledge in various areas. My skills in time management and organisation have massively increased as well as my knowledge of certain technical areas which I have briefly studied at university.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There was always a good working environment in all departments, it never felt overly stressed or dull either.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The organisation of the placement has been brilliant. The rotation scheme has worked really well and I have always known who I am working for, when and where. There is a feedback system to allow each of my 4 managers to feedback on how I have done and any areas of improvement which has been really beneficial. The placement students also got together after each rotation to talk about what they had been doing to give the other students an idea of the work in that department.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I have been on a lot of training courses whilst at the company which have all been really valuable and have taught me so much on a wide variety of topics.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There are plenty of placement students at the company so there were always people about. There has also been a few meals / nights out with colleagues.
