About You
A really friendly group of staff made the Glasgow office relaxed and enjoyable.
By the end of the placement I felt like a proper member of the firm and was being given a wide variety of work.
Through the use of trainee buddies, supervisors and regular interaction from graduate recruitment and senior staff a lot of advice was offered and there was never a time I felt like I had no-one to ask.
The placement has set me up well for any potential future traineeships but offering an insight into the skills and work involved in a commercial law firm.
The Company
Given a timetable of the entire placement on the first day was great as it meant that I always knew what to expect going into the office everyday. Practise presentations most mornings offered a full insight into the firm and partner/trainee lunches and the social events ensured that we met a range of people with different experiences at the firm.
Friendly and welcoming!
Full IT training was given to ensure that over the placement we would have full use of the facilities Pinsent Masons offers.
Through a variety of events I have gained an insight into all areas the firm operates in, despite only having experience of working in one department. Spending 3 weeks with a firm is also more realsitic and honest in comparison with singular networking events when a firm is generally tending to sell itself as opposed to offering an honest oversight.
The firms values and visions were clearly supported by staff across the company and are not just aims but already part of the culture.
Everything Else
Being paid for the placement helped me feel like a real trainee and part of the firm - had the placement not been paid it would have been difficult to partake in given the time I required to take off from my full-time work.
Presentations from different departments most mornings and a partner lunch halfway through gave great opportunities to meet more senior employees, alongisde the more casual social events hosted by current trainees.
Mainly informal and relaxed!
Opportunities were well advertised and I was actually given the chance while on placement to get involved with a corporate responsiblity event.
A great, well-rounded experience which offers a lot in the space of 3 weeks!
