The Role
I enjoyed everything about this job especially the people I was able to work with.
Everyone always thanked me and asked for further availability to complete jobs for them if my work was satisfactory.
I was asked on a regular basis how my internship was going and whether I had an issues/ questions that needed to be addressed.
In general I always had work to do, but when a couple of clients were cancelled and I was not booked to work on a specific client, finding work for a small period that I was sufficiently taught and able to do was hard and there was not always much to do.
As the internship progressed I was given more responsibility once my reputation for being more than capable reached all the different managers. At first I think people were slightly cautious about my capabilities on completing work and dealing professionally with a client.
The knowledge of businesses I gained will help a lot as well as all the information about the law side of an audit for my course. However, since I am currently completing a law degree, financial auditing and accountancy work is not incredibly relevant and helpful for my degree.
The Company
Everyone was always friendly welcoming and generally positive.
The graduate recruitment were at times frustrating and unresponsive but the manager and head of department were very accommodating for sorting out anything I needed.
I was given a varied amount of tasks and taught what each document I was creating did. Time and effort as well as expenses were invested into me.
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
I have still not had my interview with them just yet but I am very hopeful of obtaining a job once I finish University.
The Culture
There was initially a 2 day induction to meet other interns in my region as well as a CSR day where we all got together and painted a community centre so that we could share our experiences. I was invited to and attended a couple of event arranged in my office outside of work as well making me feel included in the staff at KPMG.
Average
I go to University in the same area so I was already aware of the nightlife in the town.
I was always invited to events throughout my two months and attended when available which was a good experience.
