About You
A really interesting and enjoyable placement which, although challenging at times, allowed me to test my abilities and felt fulfilling at the end.
Even in three weeks I learned so much about my particular department, the firm as a whole, the legal market and commercial law. It put my academic studies into context and allowed me to give this practical application in the real world.
The Company
The timetable was very well structured balancing time spent in departments with additional presentations and several social occasions. It gave me so much exposure to different aspects of the firm.
I felt I progressed and improved even in 3 weeks.
It was extremely thorough exposure. I was given considerable responsibility and treated like another member of the team I was with, so I gained an understanding of what it would feel like to actually work there. Presentations about other practice areas were informative and there were plenty of opportunities to network with people across the firm.
By being fully involved in the work of my team, there were no false pretenses. I was able to experience the culture of the firm first-hand.
Everything Else
It allowed me to put much of my academic studies into perspective and fuelled my interest in commercial law.
I joined the hockey team whilst I completed my placement and was therefore able to meet people from across the firm. There were also several specific social events planned for the vacation placement students which allowed us to meet with people regularly.
Yes either through presentations about them or simply through word of mouth and being invited by my team.
At times it was hard work but this meant the placement gave a very honest insight into what working for the firm would be like.
