The Role
Grant Thornton is a lovely firm to work for. All interns are given individual buddies who are really understanding and supportive. HR put on lots of networking events for the interns. This year, we had lots of lunch and learn events that allowed interns to find out about other divisions at the firm. We also had networking events outside of the office which were really fun too!
All the colleagues were really nice. If you ever needed help, you could easily ask anyone for assistance. I was given lots of work as well, which meant that I never felt bored and always felt busy!
HR gave alot fo support and guidance. We had their contact details and could always talk to a member of the team when needed.
At times I had alot of work, however I never felt that the amount of work given to me was impossible to complete.
I was given a lot of responsibility including writing a TP review, but obviously not as much as the rest of the team due to the specialised team I worked with.
Networking, Communication, Teamwork and Presentation Skills all improved.
The Company
I worked in a great team. There was always an office banter present which meant there was never a dull day at Grant Thornton!
Very organised, we were given a booklet which outlined all key dates. The internship is very well structured and its obvious that alot of effort has gone into setting it up.
The interns went on a two day training course at Bradenham Manor. This was great as it allowed us to meet all the national interns and improve our presentation skills.
Company Parties/Events
I really enjoyed my time at the firm, which is why I have taken a full time posistion with them. Grant Thornton really values their graduates and also provides a generous study package as part of the scheme.
The Culture
The interns were very nice and I have kept in contact with most of them!
London is unsurprisingly expensive, and alot of my salary was put torwards rent alone. However, I don't think that this should put you off, as it is an excellent opportunity and you could find yourself gaining a graduate position at the end of it!
It's London!
During my 6 weeks, I went on a give-and-gain day where I helped improve the garden of a local school, and also went on a corporate responsilbility day where I improve the playground of another school.
