The Role
Really enjoyed the internship - there were many intern-only events where we could socialise with other interns but also a lot of useful networking events and talks. I felt like I was placed in the right team for my skills and ambitions and enjoyed their company.
The whole team where interested in hearing about my project during weekly meetings.
A lot of support and guidance. I could ask my manager about a wide range of issues.
This depended on how much work I put in myself however you are never idle waiting for a task. The work was never boring either so I was constantly working.
I was able to decided key components of the project and was able to interact with the client. I was also able to chose which objectives to try and complete first and which ones to leave until later. Also my project is going to be used among the team when I leave so I am responsible for insuring that it is extensible and useful.
My degree is in computer science and my project involved a lot of programming so it was essential
The Company
Everyone on the team works hard but occasionally we would have off-topic talks and have chances to go get coffee etc.
There were many different events and opportunities to talk to HR for guidance as well as your manager, mentor or buddy.
It felt like every intern was very valuable to the company. On top of the very good salary, there were many different educational events and social events that probably amounted more than the salary. I was very happy with the interest that baml showed in the interns.
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
I enjoy my team and would like to come back to try working with another team as well. Also there have a great graduate program where employees go to NY for training and I would be very interested in doing something like that.
The Culture
There were many social events so at least all of the tech interns got along. I would have enjoyed socialising with the finance interns as well however this was a little less common.
London is not a cheap area, especially not Canary wharf. There was a lot of socialising events though.
There is not nightlife in canary wharf (as far as I know) but it isn't too far from central london where nightlife is great.
Yes, there was a Morgan Stanley charity run at the start that baml invited all of the interns too (it was optional) and there was some community service and a Rugby tournament ongoing throughout the internship.
