    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed every part of it as it was really varied and I was able to get to know different members of the team and different aspects to the job.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The team were very welcoming from day 1 and everyone was always happy to help.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager was so supportive and always willing to give time to help me despite being so busy.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Every day was different! Some days would be busier and involve more meetings/time away from my desk whereas other days were quieter and you had time to catch up with emails and other jobs that you didn't have chance to do on busy days.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • The right amount of responsibility was given during my placement. I recieved sufficient guidance and help at the start to allow me to feel confident in having responsbility throughout the rest of my placement.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • My placement has been very valuable so far and allowed me to develop skills that I will definitely use in future careers and studies.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Really welcoming and fun to work in as there were always things going on.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Really good- I met up with my manager before I started to have a tour of the office and meet my team. We also had an intern training day within the first few weeks which was really useful and informative. I also had an objective meeting with manager in my second week so I knew exactly what my internship required of me.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We had an intern induction at the beginning of the placement which provided us with really valuable information. We also had the opportunity to attend IT classes, lunch and learn training sessions which were open to interns as well as the rest of the company and many other useful sessions.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would love to work with L'Oreal again in the future and will keep an eye out for any opportunities. The grad scheme is well advertised and all interns are well informed of how to apply for this.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • We have an intern committee which regularly arrange socials or days out for the whole intern team. This made my placement experience so much better as you get to know other people in the same position as you and make some really good friends.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Hammersmith is definitely cheaper than some places in London although some places can be expensive but you just need to find the cheaper pubs and bars in the area. We also get a discount in some places around Hammersmith due to being a L'Oreal employee which is always good!

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • We tended to travel around London to go out as many of us didn't actually live in Hammersmith. This meant we were able to explore different London areas and find the cheaper and more student friendly places.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were so many opportunities for us to get involved with. We didn't only have the intern committee which involved nights out, days out, sporting events etc but we were also able to join in with our team activities, e.g., team lunches, team building days. The office also has regular yoga classes which were free and a monthly bar event which takes place in the office where you could socialise with others in the company and enjoy free food and drink!
