The Role
I enjoyed my internship very much and this is mainly because of the variety of work I was assigned to. It allowed me to see new and different things and learn a lot. Everyday at work was an interesting day because of the variety of work I had.
I was highly valued in the office especially when I am given work. Every piece of work I was given had a high level of importance and my colleagues made sure I understood the work and always allowed me to ask questions and also my recommendations were respected.
I was assigned a line manager, who is my go-to person in the office even though everyone in the office was approachable. My line manager would check up on me frequently to make sure I was doing well and always reminded me that whenever I needed anything or to raise any concerns, I could reach my line manager.
I was fairly busy everday. I was always given a good amount of work to keep me busy which allowed me to learn about the work I was doing and about the client I was working for. I was always given a deadline for every work I was given so I knew how to organise my time and made sure I was never too busy or bored.
I was given quite a lot of responsibility with the work I was given. Every work I need had a big importance to the client work. I never felt stressed or pressured with my responsibilities as every colleague was approachable and helpful when I was not sure or was stuck with the work I was doing.
The skills I have developed will assist me very well in my studies as my internship was highly relevant to my degree. So this internship was such a good opportunity for me to learn and expose myself to the real working world, stepping outside from university.
The Company
The general atmosphere in the office is good. It was not a stressful situation. Everyone was very friendly and apporachable which made the office a very comfortable place to work in.
Generally it was well set up. We had an induction day on our very first day which I was very glad about because it allowed me to warm up and get to the momentum I needed to be in to start my internship and start working in an office.
I was given quite a good amount of training, especially it was required for some clients to work on their project. The training allowed me to understand and learn a lot of the client work I was given.
Working from home
I enjoyed my time during my internship and I could see myself working in the office.
The Culture
Overall the social scene was good. We would organise Friday lunches so everyone would be able to bond and get to know one another better.
The cost was not too high. The office is very close to the main town but there was never a need to go to town as the area around the office was active with a number of restaurants, Tesco, Sainsbury's etc
The nightlife is very good. There is a few pubs and restaurants and also a few clubs nearby. So in my opinion the nightlife around the area I worked in would cater to everyone in their own interest.
There were quite a few opportunities to get involved in like sport activities or organising social events outside of work.
