The Role
The work, whilst plentiful, wasn't consistently interesting, there were significant chunks of time where significant periods of time where my work wasn't particularly technical
Despite rotating through various departments, and only spending 3 months at a time in each, I was made to feel very much at home in all of them
Support and guidance was given pretty much every time I requested it
This depended on the department. First rotation, I was no where near busy enough, but second rotation struck a perfect balance
The work I was completing was definitely important to the success of whatever project I was working on, but I wasn't leading anything
My time management and work commitment have definitely improved hugely this year, simply as a result of being a real working environment, working to deadlines
The Company
The people I worked with in all departments were relaxed and happy to chat wheneve, but maintained a professional attitude at the same time. Work always got done, but there was no pressure to remain silent and work the day through
Considering this was the first year they were running the rotation scheme, I feel that it was very successful. One or two slip ups along the way, but nothing you wouldn't expect from a pilot scheme.
Training was ready available and we were actively encouraged to undertake various related, and unrelated training courses. Courses covered everything from hands on engineering, to IT.

I would happily work with Cummins as a company, their attitudes towards their employees, and also globally, make them an attractive company to apply for.
The Culture
We were encouraged to live together and meet. So a combination of other enthusiastic placement students, and encouragement from the company meant that socially, it was almost like university
Housing is cheap in Huddersfield, food is about average, nights out can be cheap if you avoid some of the pricier places.
Something for everyone, but can become samey after a while. Thankfully, Leeds and Manchester are not too far.
The sports and social club meant we could get subsidised sports, such as football, squash, badminton, and gym.
