The Role
Overall I enjoyed the placement. I found it incredibly interesting and learned a huge amount.
The projects we were doing were for our own learning and benefit rather than anything which was of use to the company. Hence we had little interaction with other people on the floor.
Although after the original training period we were mostly left to it, there were several highly experienced and knowledgeable people on hand for when we needed help.
We were left to manage out own time over the internship. I was constantly busy as long as I could think of something to do! I did end up working pretty hard in the build up to stock pitches, but that was a choice I made.
I was purely responsible for my own work.
Everything I have learned will be useful to me if I pursue a career in this area.
The Company
Analysts have sole responsibility for their sectors, so the office is pretty quiet on the whole.
The internship was very well organised.
The training we received in the first week alone must have been worth hundreds if not thousands of pounds. Combined with the amount of one on one time we spent with very senior people, as well as the equipment we had (very expensive computers, Bloomberg access etc), the firm made a huge investment in us.
Flexi Time
Company Parties/Events
There is a job available for all interns if they deem you good enough.
The Culture
We had a few organised events and did some other things ourselves.
Fidelity provided free accommodation nearby for those who needed it, which made a big difference to the cost of living in central London!
London so obviously great.
We had a charity day halfway through.
