The Role
The work was challenging and always very interesting.
Treated like a full time member of staff throughout the placement and so I felt my contribution was always appreciated.
Fully supported by my line managers, always able to approach them with any issues.
Enough work to keep me busy every day of my placement.
As a junior member of staff you can only expect a certain amount of responsibility. However, I was always trusted to manage my own working day with support if needed.
The subject matter in my laboratory work is very similar to my biology degree. It has also helped me greatly in, already, gaining employment after university.
The Company
Good fun, but always professional.
All interns were constantly supported over the 12-months by a dedicated placement team within the company. Specific training courses were also held for interns.
I requested to spend time on another site within the UK. This request was granted and financial support was provided.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Healthcare/Dental
Travel loan
I would be happy to return should a suitable position arise in the future.
The Culture
Large group of students, very sociable.
Southampton is comparable to other cities in the UK.
Small highstreet with pubs local to work.
Weekly football matches are arranged and monthly events are available to attend.
