The Role
Enjoying my placement a lot - I wouldn't know if it was a "10/10 Best Job Ever" though...
My mentor has said to me that I'm helping a lot during this particularly busy time, dealing with numerous contractors/jobs by myself.
Managers, Supervisors & Mentor are all very helpful, they see it as an opportunity for my career alongside the work I'm doing for JLR, allowing me a lot of room to pick a project that I suits me best.
Things undoubtedly get busy when something happens, and always work to do - with both project work expected by the company & actual work expected by the department.
Set a good amount of responsibility, which I like to think I dealt with well, I certainly wasn't "10/10 Running the Show" - that's ridiculous.
I've not finished yet, but I can tell that the skills I've developed so far will be most useful in a number of situations, communicating and gaining valuable experience in real life engineering - I have been using very little of my university education here, except to understand how something works.
The Company
Most people in the office were very nice and helpful, and knew how/when to have a laugh.
It was the first year that the Halewood Factory took interns, and the first year of manufacturing interns through-out the company, so it wasn't organised amazingly, but there was a Facebook group setup for the interns to get in touch with each other.
Training is quite expensive but I did a couple things here and there - There seems to be a lot of training when on the Grad Scheme, and you have a bigger commitment to the company, rather than just a 3 month placement
The company seem happy to offer a return placement and future Grad Scheme provided that my managers think I did well.
The Culture
There were 5 interns at the Halewood Factory and we all did things together every other weekend atleast, and played football/rugby through the week.
Liverpool is cheaper than living in most cities down south, I was living with my brother so I paid him rent.
It's good, but didn't have too much opportunity to experience it with other commitments. It depends if you live in the centre, Halewood is about a 20-30 minute drive from the city. Taxis are cheap enough
I played 7-a-side football with various Graduates/Colleagues on a Tuesday
