The Role
JLR is a really cool place to work, I'm just not sure I was placed into the right department.
Everyone was really welcoming and easy to get along with, and I've developed strong friendships with quite a few of my team.
My manager coached myself and two other new starters personally on how our attitude affects others. He was excellent!
Most days were okay, but occasionally I would have absolutely nothing to do, whereas on others, I would be really engaged and not even notice how large my pile of work was, and stay late to get it all done.
I never really had sole ownership of a project, but the projects that I was involved in were high level and key. But I always report my work directly to my manager, where he would develop and execute, and in the end, take the credit.
JLR has a really excellent employee development programme. And whilst I didn't learn much relevant to my degree, I did learn a lot about working life and office behaviours. As well as improved my skills in key applications such as MS Project, Publisher etc
The Company
Friendly but serious when necessary
Large operation but could improve
As mentioned earlier, JLR do a lot of personal training and development, however it was made clear to me from the start that whilst I had full access to all of this, it wouldn't be prudent for me to go on course after course and not experience JLR itself.
