The Role
Great experience with plenty of diversity and exposure to industry standards / snr colleagues
Fully engaged in process and active effort taken by current bankers to have interns involved
Plenty of opps to speak to very senior people in the bank and sound career guidance provided with intern's best interests taken very carefully into consideration
Banking, as expected, is a demanding job so naturally the placement has been busy but not impossible to manage time and work-load
High degree of autonomy involved with associate level projects. E.g. preparing high level presentations and working through valuation tools.
Very much in line with a finance major MBA so will certainly be an asset upon return to business school. Beyond finance, the knowledge and skills developed around understanding core strategy, comm skillsm teamwork, brand recognition etc also fit in very well with an MBA programme
The Company
Strong work ethic but not one which compromises social aspect of being involved in a demanding environment
Very well managed and staffed by staffers with plenty of opps to tailor your own needs / work on areas of interest or improvement
Very intense 1 week training programme which helped with ongoing holistic talks organised by bank where senior people talk about industry/firm/challenges etc.
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Not easy to ascertain this but impression is that an all-round approach is key to getting hired e.g. technical and soft skills
The Culture
Very active socialising within class of interns, certainly amongst associates - not only during lunch/dinner in office but also beyond e.g. weekend/evenings
London is expensive to live and play in, but there are plenty of chances to make your money stretch
City of London is very vibrant but for late night London in general is very much alive and happening
London offers plenty of chances to get involved in extra-curric things, also bank has plenty of employee-arranged activities e.g. football
