The Role
I really enjoyed the placement, from the work I was doing to the people I interacted with. The work challenged me and it was never the same day to day
The staff made it clear that no question was a stupid question and just to ask anything if you are unsure. Everyone I worked with was supportive and helped me to complete my work.
My line manager was very supportive and made sure that all of the required appointments that we needed to set up throughout the internship were kept to and made sure myself and other interns were enjoying our time with Grant Thornton and offered that if there was anything specific we wished to experience she would do her best to set that up for us.
I was often out on clients site and even when I was working in the office my colleagues made sure that I had plenty to do so that I could experience as much as possible during my internship
I was given more responsibility as my internship progressed and I gained a better understanding of the relevance of the work to the overall audit. I started interacting with clients within my first week.
Having completed a training course on presentations I will be able to give my presentations much more effectively when I start my final year at University.
The Company
The team were very friendly and lovely to talk to.
The internship was well organised and I always knew who I would be working with each week, how to get there, etc.
Interns were invited to Grant Thornton's training facility for a two day training course part way through the internship.
I enjoyed my internship and can't wait to start back with the firm next September.
The Culture
While there I was invited to two office socials which were both lots of fun and there was often people who went out for a drink after work on a friday and we were alway invited to join them.
I personally commuted everyday so it was more challenging for me however it wasn't particularly expensive.
Leeds has plenty of nightlife.
The office run a yoga class among other activities and participating in helping the local community is encouraged within the firm.
