The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my internship year at SAP, every day you came into the office and had different tasks to do and learnt new things. The year went by incredibly fast.
I felt extremely valued by my colleagues. I was often recognised and rewarded with gifts, monetary awards as well as being able to attend corporate events and international travel.
My manager has been excellent through my internship - always enough time for me and included me in everything to give me the best exposure and insight possible.
My work level as a whole was very balanced, I always had plenty to do which kept me busy but generally wasn't too much. However, around times like quarter end my hours increased and at times I was very busy - but you get appreciated for the extra efforts you put in.
I was given masses of responsibility during my placement. Obviously as you started you had to prove yourself and justify you can take on more and still deliver, yet I worked hard to do this to get the most out of my year and I really did. On my own I hosted customers at events representing SAP.
The internship has been fantastic and the skills I have developed, training I have received and real life work experience I have gained is invaluable.
The Company
As it is such a huge office, the atmosphere really depended on where you were in the office. Some days as I was on the sales floor it was very quiet as the sales teams were out. Other days when everyone was in, it was lively and a great atmosphere. It was a good balance.
The internship was set up with a great attention to detail. A lot of aspects of the internship are ran by the interns themselves, so it is a great perspective as we know first hand what was needed and what could be improved. As interns at SAP you are very well looked after and treated like a permanent full-time employee.
At the end of the day it comes down to how much you put into SAP during your year. I put in all I could, which was recognised and rewarded with a lot of additional opportunities and experiences.

The Culture
Yes, as an intern community there is always something going on every week/weekend.
There is not much around the immediate area of the office. There are plenty of places nearby on the bus or tube which we usually went to and it was always reasonable.
Again, there isn't anything in the immediate area - but we always went out in Central London or again, nearby places with bars. There is plenty of choice and all easy to travel to!
With an endless list of either sports, events, societies, communities and networks, there was always plenty to get involved in.
