The Role
The Company
There was always a upbeat atmosphere in the office and even when everyone was busy doing something, they were always willing to take a moment to explain things or answer questions
In my opinion, the overall internship was very well set up. As an intern from Ghana, right from when I had my assessment centre in Ghana to the moment I got an offer till when the actual internship began, the Campus team was constantly in touch to update me on the next steps in the process and what I had to do.
BofAML invested a lot in my training and development over the period. Interns had a full week of training specific to their divisional areas, and as a Global Markets intern, I had an additional 3 days of training to help prepare me for the work I would do on my desk. Throughout the internship, the Campus HR team constantly had catch ups and drop in sessions to find out if there was anyway they could help make your experience better. I always felt I could reach out to HR if I had any challenges and they were always willing to help.
Company Parties/Events
From the very first day, you are made away of the fact that if you perform well enough and are willing to learn, you have got a place with them.
The Culture
Interns in my division were very bonded and constantly organised drinks and weekends out so we could get to know each other better. It was always easy to reach out to fellow interns who were higher up on the academic calendar or who knew more than I did to ask questions and be taught.
The cost of living in my area was pretty reasonable. There were large supermakets like Tesco and Sainsbury's just a walk away from my hall of residence.
I was not very active in the nightlife landscape but I was very much aware of a vibrant scene.
I was made to feel very much a part of the bank, and interns were allowed to join employee networks and get invited to general events and network events, so outside of work, I took part in a number of activities.
