The Role
Coming from an engineering background but studying an MBA, an internship in Investment Banking can be quite a challenge, but everyone at BAML tried their best to make the experience enjoyable. It is still quite challenging since senior analysts are more experienced than you, who join as an associate and are supposedly more "senior" than them
Everyone opened their arms to the associate class not only in terms of work but also outside of the office
We have a couple of people taking care of us and following our progress so I feel really taken care of
This job's nature is to have working peaks and troughs, so even though the balance is not perfect, it is something I was prepared for
I believe they found the right balance, because I was in charge of other summer analysts but not left completely alone
The internship is a short period of time to learn many things, but I would say I now know my way around Excel, Factset, Bloomberg and other tools quite well
The Company
I believe they found the right balance at BAML, teams are pretty tight so even though they work hard, there's a great camaradery atmosphere
Desks are big enough to move around and have enough space to tidy up
They have made quite a big investment in the internship program
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
The associate class is pretty small, so I believe chances are high
The Culture
Pretty good, lots of events being organized
The City is not the cheapest area in London, but maneagable if you know where to go
Social life in the City is alright up to 23 pm on weekdays
Teams normally organize drinks quite often
