    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Was placed in lovely branch with excellent colleagues and enjoyed the challenges this entailed. Did find it a little repetitive at times

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Like family fits well - always so eager to help me or show me how to do something without questioning at all. Could not have asked for better coworkers

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Excellent support from line manager and branch manager who really helped me and showed me the ropes from day one.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There were moments when I was very busy but I did find that my role was sometimes not very varied due to restrictions as I was not qualified.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Due to staffing being low, I was given more responsibility than is normal which I thrived on - enjoyed feeling 'useful' and as though my help really was making other people's lives easier.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Were I to join the HSBC graduate scheme I feel I could go into this with a lot of knowledge and experience which would be invaluable. Not something I could have learnt at uni!

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Fun Fridays kept all entertained, as did breakfast meetings where we had bfast bought for us. Colleagues were always keeping me laughing and cheery and the atmosphere was brilliant.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very organised in terms of paperwork etc though I did feel that a mixture of a commercial and retail internship would have been better!

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Branch were fab at offering me opportunities to attend meetings or training sessions

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Waiting to hear back in next few weeks but possibility of working for HSBC on the graduate scheme is excellent (around 80% of interns get an offer!) so I am hopeful based on my feedback.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Met up with fellow interns in the area for social events and meals during the placement and coordinated with regards to hotels and travel for events.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I lived at home, but I was based in Birmingham so not too pricey!

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Birmingham ... enough said!

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • A few charity events for HSBC and was invited to branch socials, even after I left

    4/5
