  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The work was genuinely interesting and the rapport with my colleagues was thoroughly enjoyable.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I was constantly busy and was always thanked for a job well done. Initially the work was very mundane with very simple filing jobs being my main focus but as relationships grew, I felt that more substantial and important duties were entrusted to me.

  • I felt comfortable in asking questions regarding any aspect of the company's dealings and special efforts were made to explain complex concepts.

  • The work load fluctuated massively but was intense for most of my internship time.

  • Although not directly relevant to my language studies, personal qualities such as an increase in self confidence and work drive are benefits that I will take back to my university studies.

  • Everything went very smoothly with the two day induction setting me up perfectly for the placement.

  • I was offered a full time position following my placement which I have duly accepted.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I didn't meet any fellow interns as there weren't any within my department. However, the office would go for drinks following any success/appointment. I was pleasantly surprised by the time it took for us to go for drinks after I had announced I had been made an offer of a full time position!

  • I lived at home and know the area to be very reasonable in terms of living costs.

  • Manchester is a very vibrant city for a 21 year old professional.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • I played football (both 11 a side and 5a side) and cricket almost every week. I also played 3 or 4 games of squash at lunch time. All of the above was a really positive aspect of the job.
