The Role
I really enjoyed the placement as I was able to partake in a variety of projects and tasks which meant it didn't get boring.
My colleagues in my team were exremeley friendly and helpful, even though i was a part of a virtual team. I also enjoyed being surrounded by the local team that I sat with. Everyone I worked with while at SAP was very friendly and polite.
My manager arranged a 1:1 with me weekly. This was extremely beneficial as we were based in different countries so it enabled us to keep up to date. I was also given a buddy who was located in my office and he helped me with anything I had a question with and we had a one to one meeting twice a week.
The work fluctuated throughout the year. Towards the end of quarters my role was extremeley busy and depending on the various projects i was taking part in. I was never sat with nothing to do which was great as I always had something to be getting on with.
During my placement I felt like an integral part of the team and definitely impacted my team from the work i did. My role wasn't full of 'intern jobs' as I was given real responsibility and asked to drive projects.
I believe the general skills I learnt such as organisation, creating project plans, designing timelines, asking the right questions, networking etc will benefit me more than what I learnt from carrying out tasks as I will continue to use them later on in life.
The Company
The office at SAP has been refurbished the year I was here, therefore there is a buzz in the office as everything is new and different. The people at the office were great to work around and the friendly presence and caring atomsphere was great to work in.
The intern programme at SAP is run by the interns themselves which is extremely beneficial as the students have just been through the process themselves and know what worked well and what didnt work as well.
Throughout my year I followed a development plan that I was asked to create at the beginning of the year. This was also used throughout the year during my half year review.

There is no graduate scheme here at the moment therefore the future employment prospects aren't guaranteed, however they have developed schemes such as the sales acadamy where the interns interested in this may be keen to apply to.
The Culture
There were 34 placement students here this year therefore there was a great social atmosphere.
As I was based in greater London the cost of living and socialising was very high compared to the amount we were paid, however the salary for the next set of interns has been increased
Being near central london there was always somewhere to go!!
There were various sports societies such as football, netball, golf. Most departments also went out for team meals etc on a regular basis.
