The Role
Great place to work. We had great interns and got on well with employees.
They treat you as if your a member of the team. It's then your job to impress and tick the right boxes to try get a job.
Your mentor will meet up for you whenever you want and give you advice. It's your job to constantly keep in touch with them though.
You always have things to do. It may be a project or shadowing some employees or even going to get lunch but your kept busy with good things.
If you want responsibility they give you it. You can end up working on projects that the firm actually use on a day to day basis and this really reflects how important the work can be.
At the end of the day the experience is great. You can't learn this from a textbook. In terms of assisting your degree that really depends on what you study. I study maths so it won't really help me in terms of my exams but it did teach me everything about finance.
The Company
Great atmosphere. There were always networking events/ drinks and bbqs which really great. You got to meet some really high up staff as well as going out with good friends.
Very well organised we had reminders for every event, anything we had forgot to do the HR would send you an email reminding you.
I think most interns will agree and say that BAML's summer programme is really good its flexible.
Subsidised Canteen
This all depends on how you found the internship. The atmosphere and people are great but they are also open. If finance isn't the career for you then it's completely understandable to not pursue a career in banking. On the other hand if you want to work in global markets and you get a job here then you are in a great position
The Culture
All got on really well. I think the interns also make a big chunk of the programme. Everyone works hard during the week and then the weekends are always good fun.
London is obviously an expensive place but you get paid well and accomodation is covered easily. Then you can do plenty of things in the city for a reasonable price.
Shoreditch on a friday is the place to be!
Lots of things to do outside work. You can go to the gym with employees you can work on charity events. It's just really about what you want to do .
