The Role
The internship was very well organised and gave me a great insight into the insurance industry.
Everyone in the office saw me as a resource which they could use for a variety of tasks. This was a great way for me to learn a wide range of different skills.
If I ever had a problem/question my manager (and all the other people in office) were happy to sit down with help me.
I constantly had a task that I could be getting on with. My manager would give me a project that would be aimed to keep me busy whenever I had nothing to do. This was perfect for any days that I was light on work.
I was treated like any other member of the team and was given work that I was told to take ownership of. My manager then directed questions he received related to that work/project straight to me. This gave me a lot of responsibility over that project.
I am now more comfortable being able to balance my workload and feel the skills I learnt will help improve the grades I receive in my final year of study.
The Company
The team was very friendly and the office was rarely silent for any length of time.
The internship was very well structured. I was provided with a number of different contacts that would answer any questions I had. At the start of the internship key dates were identified months in advance and nothing appeared unstructured or out-of-place.
The company asked me in one of the first meetings during my internship what I wanted to achieve from my time here. My manager then tried to help me achieve these aims as much as possible.
Company Parties/Events
I hope to be offered a job at Aon after I finish my final year of study at university.
The Culture
The other interns and grads were often organising some kind of social event, either drinks or lunch. It meant that most weeks you would be invited to some kind of event.
My internship is in central London, therefore the surrounding bars and pubs were not cheap. There was always a social event planned, so it was quite easy to find yourself spending more than expected at the end of the week.
There was plenty of bars and pubs in the local area.
There was a number of opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work. If an activity occurred then the majority of the time, everyone would be invited whether this was a corporate run completed by all the team or a meal celebrating someones wedding.
