The Role
I came in really not knowing what to expect from an internship like this one and so far it has been a really positive experience both in terms of learning and opportunity to meet new peple.
The environment between collegues is very relaxed and the feeling is that people are very approachable and value what you have to say.
I had the opportunity to receive feedback from people working at different levels. The support to improve is great since everyone is provided with a buddy, staffer and mentor. Furthermore, I have received feedback on a project by project basis.
I found that this works a bit with peaks. Some days are very intense with no time to stop at all until leaving the office but certain times projects are put on hold and things tend to get a bit more calm. Overall I believe it is just the nature of the job.
I was able to perfrom a wide range of tasks. In the first weeks maybe less responsability is given but as the internship develops and people get to know each intern they will encourage you to complete more challenging tasks independently.
The learning curve during such a period of time is quite impressive. I improved substancially in what relates to using technical tools (like Excel and PowerPoint) and organizing work and managing different levels of workload. Also accumulated significant knowledge about the specific teams I was working with.
The Company
That was probably the thing I enjoyed most about the internship. People take a serious approach to work but at the same time want to guarantee that you have a good time and enjoy an experience that goes beyond just working.
Since the first day we were constantly updated about how the program would be run and updates are provided at all times.
The training week is a good demonstration of how the company sees their interns. Besides specific industry training there are presentations throughout the weeks that enable interns to get to know better how different divisions within the bank work.
