The Role
Was given a project to manage, work on and develop which was my own responsibility. The area I was working might not be my chosen area to work in in the future but it is a great learning experience.
Small, friendly team who are happy to involve you in anything - even if it doesn't affect the direct line of work I am doing.
Always had an array of people to ask for help if it was needed and no body thought twice about helping me.
Start of the placement is always slow to get your feet but once the work starts flowing and you stay motivated then there it always a good flow to the day!
I was given my own project to deliver by the end of the placement, help was always available and people where more than happy to but I was responsible for the general delivery of the project.
My CAD skills at the start of the placement we're poor due to poor teaching at Uni, but after a summer of learning they are a lot stronger to go back to uni and take me though my final year at uni.
The Company
Hard working but always opportunity for some friendly chat.
Organisation at the start of placement wasn't good with not gaining access to the office for a few weeks, which was a pain but an informative induction day helped start the placement.
Loads of training programs available, especially in the graduate scheme for personal development.
Subsidised/Company Gym
Great graduate scheme program leading on from the Undergraduate placement, which is great for seeing more of the company and personal development.
The Culture
A lot of the students, myself included, live in student halls in Coventry so there is always other interns about looking to hang out and do something!
Average, not cheap but not too pricey
Local Coventry club, Kasbah is just a laugh. Birmingham and Leamington are also close for a good night out!
Open to what you want to do, plenty to do you just have to look for it.
