The Role
The internship as a whole was very fun. The work I was given was challenging, whilst the people I was working with were good to talk to. They were very understanding and this helped to increase my enjoyment. Equally, the other interns were brilliant. The socials put on by the Summer Internship Team were a lot of fun and there was a lot to look forwards to. Finally, there was a lot of support provided with regards to future opportunities, etc, which again made you feel valued and helped me to enjoy it. Equally, due to an overall lack of training there were times when the work was a bit dull - however I entered internship expecting more of this so this does not detract overall.
All the teams were very welcoming and very inclusive. They went out of their way to make me feel like I was a member of the team, and at no point did I feel like my status as an intern was held against me. I was invited to the summer social, and was introduced and got to talk to lots of people, which was brilliant. The fact I was given some substantial work also gave me a feeling of value!
My counselor was fantastic, giving me some work when I needed some and keeping in touch on a regular basis. He was always open for questions and gave me some really good advice. Each intern gets given a counselor, so everyone has access to this.
The workload varied. There were some days when I was very busy (almost too busy) and others when I was not very busy. Over the course of 6 weeks, it did even out and I was almost always doing something. The fluctuation in work is down to the nature of the business, and it was not through a lack of trying to give us work!
The responsibility was at a good level for an intern. There were some tasks where you were helping someone else out and as such were just doing what they said. However, on each project I was on I was given responsibility for some parts of it. Equally, I was responsible for any information I needed from the client, and had to meet with them independently.
As I would like to go into this profession the internship gave me a great understanding of the business and some basic skills to start a career with. Equally, I understand time management and problem solving a bit better, which will help me with my degree.
The Company
The atmosphere was fun overall, but as with any business, when a deadline was coming up it was important to focus. However even then it was a mainly relaxed atmosphere.
The internship was very well set up on the whole. The two days induction gave us a chance to meet the other interns and relax us slightly. Once we were assigned to a client it all flowed brilliantly. There was a slight delay for some of us in being assigned to a client, but they managed to sort this very quickly.
Whilst no formal training was given, on the job training was extensive and gave us a good start to a career if we wanted one.

Feedback is key to the chance of getting a job, but it does seem like they want to hire as many interns as they can, given the investment into us. All offers are processed within 2 weeks of the placement, as well!
The Culture
There was always something going on in the internship if you wanted to do something. This was made better by the location of the internship, and that it was easy to get in touch with the other interns!
London is expensive, but if you apply to an internship there you should know it would be anyway!
Drinks were always an option, but thanks to the closeness of the tube station the reach was expanded and London Nightlife is great.
Sports teams were open to the interns, and often teams had socials and drinks which you were expanded to. You could also get involved with CSR days.
