The Role
The work environment was very good, but i found that the project given wasn't as engineering related as could be expected. Still interesting though.
The other colleagues knew what work the Power Academy could produce, so we were welcomed from Day 1
We were guided quite a bit, but i think earlier corrections to our path should have been made. I found that by the end of it, the work we made wasn't what was asked for because different people gave us different information
I found most days were incredibly busy, which is a good thing. But there were the odd day where we could go on a site visit. The last week was the worst, as deadlines had to be handed in, and more work was given at very late notice (this could have been communicated to our group earlier). Also, as it was so busy, I wasnt able to take my entitled 4 days holiday off.
Quite a bit of responsibility was given, as it was us as a group's job to create the documents, no one else.
All of the skills I learnt will help both in university and later life.
The Company
everyone in the office was very friendly, all hardworking, but knew when to have fun.
everyone aspect of the placement was put together was very well.
Not as much as i hoped, but as we were there for only 8 weeks, it was understandable.
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Healthcare from home
Very good. And as ive got other placements still to do with them, the prospects will hopefully look better every year.
The Culture
We all got on very well. We ended up sharing a house together, which made it even better.
It was reasonable. Rent was quite steep for what it was, but there were cheap places to buy food, which made it better.
It was alright, few pubs which were good. We only went to one club, which wasnt up to much. But was alright nonetheless.
We weren't aware of alot of them, but I didnt have the time to do any of them, as I was too tired from a days work.
