The Role
I was involved in a variety of projects throughout the year, and each one was different to the last. one involved me performing a lot of data analysis and finding inconsistencies with data, another was very hands on as i would travel around the UK performing upgrades to IT systems, and the third was for the testing phase of a new system
I really enjoyed the IT team at L'Oreal, they made me feel very welcome and i had a great relationsip with them
I would have like to see my line manager more involved with the work i was doing, however it was a geographical challenge as he was based in the north of England and i was in London
Dependent on the project, there were quiet times which can be challenging to occupy your time, but it is more of a case of finding your own tasks to do
A vast amount, i was allowed to travel the UK to perform IT upgrades to systems, and at one point a series of managers were away at the same time so i was left with the responsibility of a project for a week, which was great
Time Management - working to a lot of deadlines Communication - speaking witt technically and non technically minded people Excel - Used a lot of Excel and VBA Leadership - Ran a project for a week when managers were away
The Company
all colleagues were very friendly which made it a great place to work
I would have liked a little more contact with recruitment team, we had a one day induction then straight into the role.
A manager gave a weekly training session to me on his project management experience/knowledge
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
National Travel
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Working from home
Travel loan
They don't offer an IT graduate scheme, but i had a good relationship with management team so there could be the potential to return
The Culture
Yes there was a intern community who organised socials and events
Just outside central london to not be the most expensive, but i commuted so cannot comment on rent costs
