The Role
I have really enjoyed the experience in this internship as I got to experience all the different areas in Hays and find out more information about each one.
I felt more valued in some areas than others as some of my colleagues were very occupied and sometimes failed to fully explain things to be. However, overall, my colleagues have been helpful and have been a pleasure to work with often making me feel welcome and part of the team. Also, all of them seemed very appreciative of my help.
As mentioned above, some areas I had more support and others less.
I wasn't very busy which sometimes made the day quite boring. Also, when I was given tasks they were often quite tedious and simplistic, not giving me much of a challenge.
I was given little responsibility as I only spent one week in each area so I wasn't able to learn that much about each specialism so was not able to have a significant role in many of the tasks. However, I felt responsible at times such as when I was handling large spreadsheets.
I believe that I have developed skills for life from simple things such as how to communicate with people within an office environment right down to improving my skills in excel which will be necessary in nearly every job and projects that I may need to use spreadsheets etc.
The Company
I absolutely loved the atmosphere of this office as it was always buzzing and the people were so friendly and energetic.
In some of the areas I spent time with, the placement was not that greatly organised as most times they had no work for us to do and also, as directors were often too busy to see us, we weren't sure about who we were to sit with.
There wasn't much personal training however, we were slightly trained on some compliance things where we learn how to identify counterfeit documents.
Company Parties/Events
They would be appealing as it seems as if it would be fun and interesting if I was more involved and I had my own projects and team projects to be getting on with
The Culture
Me and the interns made really great friends and we often went out for lunch and dinner.
It was decent
I am not quite sure, I didn't go out in the evening around here. It sounded good though.
There was an opportunity for me to join the netball team and the Monday morning boxing class.
