The Role
Went in to the internship not intending to do tax, but have come out wanting to do it.
Everybody within the tax department made me feel at home, and within a week it felt like I had worked there for years.
Managers were easily approachable for advice on what needed to be done, and they were always available to answer any questions regarding the work, no matter how trivial the question was.
It is entirely up to you how busy you made yourself. I was proactive and made sure I was busy all the time, got rewarded for this.
Not much, everything we had to complete regarding clients etc was checked over several times before being sent off.
Doesn't help me for my degree perse, but will definitely stand me in good stead for when I start my graduate placement.
The Company
Everyone was friendly, but always remained professional.
Very well structured, work was always made for us, and we had several activities and updates throughout the 6 weeks.
We had several hours of in depth training at the start of our placement, which was done by senior managers within the tax department.
Subsidised Canteen
Got offered a graduate placement in the final week.
The Culture
People were always up for a night out on the weekend, or a quiet drink after work. But not in your face if you weren't up for it. Plus football with some of the lads in the department was organised for a couple of nights a week.
Relatively cheap, manchester is good for it, you can buy expensive things, or go cheap, depends what you fancy.
Go to uni in Manchester so was pretty much the same - Amazing!
Weekend away to Bristol for countrywide football tournament which fell within the placement, didn't go on it myself but heard it was a right laugh. Had a staff away day which also fell during my time there, did a go-ape type thing which was hilarious. Etc etc
