The Role
I really enjoyed working for the Bank, the team I was in was very friendly and supportive and also the projects I was given to complete by the end of the internship were interesting and challenging.
The team was very supportive, ready to help me in any way that I needed - for example to practice my presentation before the big day.
The team I was in was very knowledgeable and even if they didn't know the answer to one of my questions they would direct me to someone who knew.
The work was fairly balance, but there were moments when I was stuck waiting for answers to be able to carry on with my projects - that is natural though.
I was given two projects to deliver - both of them were quite theoretical and so they involved a lot of research and working with different scenarios. I had to liaise with different departments to get the information I needed, I even contacted another central bank for one of my projects.
I have greatly improved my research skills, my Excel knowledge and also the training course on presentation skills was very helpful. I developed the ability to bot work individually and as a team. I also gained a better understanding of how the Bank of England works.
The Company
The office was a perfect balance between a relaxing environment and a working one. The atmosphere was both tense when the team had short-term deadlines but also fun and friendly at the same time. Problems were dealt with in a calmly manner.
The tasks of my projects were well set out from the beginning of the internship. However, the internship should have had more structure in the way every manager checks the progress of their interns - for example, at weekly meetings.
I attended a one day presentation skills course which was very informative and helpful. Also, I attended seminars about the work of the bank, the pre-MPC meeting, seminars on the Inflation Report.

There is a chance to be fast tracked onto a scheme of your choice - penultimate year internship or grad scheme.
The Culture
We had a couple of networking events organised by the Bank, but then we organised after-work socials ourselves - there are numerous good locations close to the Bank.
