The Role
At L'Oreal if you decide to do a marketing placement/internship you work with a specific brand. I was really lucky to be put within the marketing team at Yves Saint Lauren and it was the most fun, creative, challenging, fast-paced job I have ever had!
I was extremely lucky that the team I worked within was really close and welcoming. Everyone respected each other and I wasn't made to feel like a summer intern at all
The management within YSL were really supportive with anything and everything. If I wanted to develop certain skills my line manager made sure I was given projects which would achieve this.
The majority of the time it was incredibly busy but manageable. It definitely improved my time-management skills.
Working at YSL I was given tons of responsibility, it felt like I was the CEO of my own brands.
Everything I have learnt from the short amount of time will be hugely applicable in my exams next semester and well as skills for life.
The Company
My team were always up for a laugh - although sometimes the atmosphere was a little tense we always had fun at the end.
The HR team set up a Facebook page so that you could get to know the other interns before you started which was really helpful.
There is so much on offer. I had regular training sessions and there is a bundle of things to get involved with. Be pro-active!

At L'Oreal they clearly explain the careers paths available. This is an excellent company to work for in terms of career development.
The Culture
Yes there was always something going on whether it was a drinks at the pub or night out in london, coffee mornings at work. Really good social scene.
London is expensive - just be sensible with your money.
There are some greats places for a drink after work in Hammersmith. But interns live all over London so we were always trying new places.
There is loads to do - definitely get involved.
