The Role
It offered a unique opportunity to tune my own job role to what I wanted from my placement year, and in a diverse role I could learn from all aspects of the business.
I felt that I was valued as a young professional, and made some close firends within the team.
I was mentored by someone within my team and the two managers within the department; I was offered a lot of support with my initial work and given freedom later in the year as I accumulated experience to generate new reports and processes to add value to departmental outputs
Throughout the year I did several hours of overtime - the main report I was responsible for had three submissions and around each of the deadlines it was very busy. After the last, towards the end of my placement there is a little free time to develop tools, as its not as busy.
I was responsible for very important internal reports that would be shown at all levels of the businesses and used as backup data throughout the next financial year
I developed some existing skills I had gained from part time work before university, this year has concreted them as well as taught me some technical skills with financial reporting and Visual Basic coding. These have been developed both on the job and through classroom training offered by the company.
The Company
We could always have a laugh and enjoy the working day, but there is a job to be done - so somtimes people had thier heads down.
I had my work for the year planned before I started and was shown this as part of my induction. There was an induction day as well as monthly meetings with my line manager to discuss progress.
I was offered and attended several classroom taining courses.

The Placement scheme is one of the best opportunities to prove your ability to perform on the graduate scheme
The Culture
There is a large community of Grads & IP's that go out and arrange activities throughout the year
Milton Keynes is cheaper than the South West, what I'm used to - I found I would have half my monthly salary free after bills.
Milton Keynes isn't the best at night, but it depends what you like there are some several big clubs - and few decent pubs.
Through the Sports and Social club there are group events like Go-Karting, Football matches, Rugby etc...
