The Role
It was a very enjoyable summer as I met so manyt different like-minded students and professionals. Apart from our work we also had very enjoyable team projects.
I was treated like all my other colleagues, and as part of the team.
I was given invaluable advice by my manager and also all the other employees I shadowed. Guidance was also provided whenever I needed it to complete any tasks.
Some days were more busy than others but I always had something to get on with.
I was given relatively simple but important tasks that complemented my other colleagues' work.
I think the skills I have learnt will help me immensely in my future. I am now more confident when networking and presenting infront of others, I have also developed my excel skills, which I believe are fundamental for any job in this industry.
The Company
Sitting on the trading floor was an incredible and unique experience- there was never a dull moment.
I think the structure of the work placement was fantastic. We had the perfect balance of group activities and desk time.
We attended quite a few training sessions at the beginning of the programme. The "introduction to the City and Finance" training was my favourite, as it provided us with an insight into the financial world before we even reached our desks. RBC is also providing us with financial support during univerity.

RBC has provided us with the right training and exposure to get on to the graduate programme, so it's down to us and how much effort and dedication we put into the preparing for the application process.
The Culture
I have definately made some life long friends among my fellow students, we are all very close and go out together frequently.
Quite expensive, so I recommend bringing snacks and food from home!
I didn't really go out around this area, so I'm not sure what it's like.
There were plenty corporate and networking events to attend. We also went to a rounders match with the RBC Academy students and some existing employees.
