The Role
I have just finished my six-week internship with PwC and I can genuinely say that I will miss being there - the people were great, the intern group got on really well and we were given proper work to do which was challenging and interesting. I was also lucky enough to be invited to some social events that were not only perfect networking opportunities but also great fun!
Everyone in the office was hugely welcoming, from the new graduate joiners right the way up to the senior partners. Each team I worked with treated me as an equal.
Each intern was given a buddy (a new grad joiner in their first year at PwC) and a people manager (a manager with at least six years at PwC) which formed a good support network. My buddy was there to answer all questions, however stupid they might seem, while my people manager guided me through the official objective-setting and progress-reporting processes.
I spent my internship working on four main clients which meant the work I did was hugely varied. Days were non-stop and hard work but very rewarding.
I was surprised by the level of responsibility I was given - it was much more than I had imagined. By the end of the internship I was working with the client independently. However, team members were always happy to answer questions or assist when I was unsure.
Having done the internship, I now know that I am well-suited to this profession and I intend to pursue it beyond university so the skills I gained will be invaluable.
The Company
Everyone in the office was really friendly which made for a relaxed atmosphere that was great to work in. When we were at client sites the team dynamics were great and I got to know the people I was working with very well.
The internship was well-organised. We were given our booking schedules at the beginning so we knew who we would be working with and when, and each team leader emailed me before the job to introduce themselves and give me key details of the job/client.
I feel that PwC invested a huge amount in me. The on-the-job training and high-level exposure to clients and senior colleagues was really impressive and meant that I have gained an unrivaled insight into the firm and the industry.

Graduate training within the firm is some of the best possible and career progression paths are clear and well-structured. This is definitely a firm that I would want to join post-graduation because the ACA qualification gives the best possible grounding for any future career.
The Culture
I was really lucky because we all got on very well and would see each other most weekends. Nights out were great fun and we will all be staying in touch.
I was working in SE England, just outside of London so inevitably it was more expensive than most areas but this wasn't a huge factor in the internship.
Nightlife was great and we definitely experienced a lot!
There were social events almost every weekend which were great for getting to know colleagues outside of the office environment and even senior colleagues were up for a good time.
