About You
I really enjoyed the insight. There was a good balance of interesting work, activities and socials and the other people on the scheme and from the firm made the experience very enjoyable.
Linklaters made me feel very valued. I felt that I was able to do useful work for lawyers in my departments. I was also made to feel a part of the Linklaters team, we were encouraged to learn as much as possible about the firm with a view to returning as Trainees.
There were training sessions at the beginning of the scheme to make us familiar with the tools we would need for work, people were always available and willing to answer questions and the support was great.
I learnt and was able to build on many transferrable skills through working in my department and through the activities organised by graduate recruitment including; teamwork, communication, analysis, attention to detail and commercial awareness.
The Company
The insight was well structured. Though initially the days were a bit broken up making it hard to get stuck into department work, there was a good balance of time at desks, presentations about the firm and their work, doing other graduate recruitment activities and at social events.
The atmosphere was great. Everyone on the scheme got on really well so the socials were great and there were lots of after-work drinks arrangements. In the office everyone was very welcoming and people were always keen to meet for coffee or lunch so that you could learn as much about the firm as possible.
I felt very invested in. I learnt a huge amount about the firm; the work, the people, the way it operates, and was also able to build on a range of my own skills. I felt very much that I was being prepared to start a career with Linklaters.
Presentations on firm strategy and difference practice areas gave a deep understanding of how the firm works, in what areas and locations. Working in 2 different departments meant we got to see how this really work in practice and gave a great insight into life as a Trainee.
I felt I got a real taste for the company culture. I was able to meet people of all levels, work in a number of departments, and there were also presentations on culture and pro-bono.
Everything Else
I was paid very well for my time.
Meeting people from the firm was heavily encouraged. As well as networking skills sessions, and the opportunity to network within out departments many social events were organised to facilitate meeting new people. There were breakfast businesses with partners, lunches with trainees, lunches with people in your departments, the practice dinner with the partners - the opportunities to meet people were endless.
Fantastic. Frequent and varied but not often, they were a lot of fun.
Yes, there were presentations and networks lunches to find out about opportunities.
Without a doubt. I learnt a lot about the firm and the legal and commercial landscape in which it operates. I got an insight as to what a career at Linklaters would be like and had a great time doing so.
