The Role
I’ve really enjoyed my time working with Hiscox and feel I have been well integrated on both a professional and social level.
There is a great company culture at Hiscox. I was made to feel welcome on my first day and have felt valued as a Hiscox employer throughout my time.
My manager sorted out the appropriae training for me and supporting me throughout my internship.
Very busy! If I ever didn't have anything to do I would just ask and more work was given to me.
I was surprised with the amount of responsibility I was given on the scheme. I felt I had a very real underwriting experience.
I can't say it has partcularly helped me with my degree studies- it has however given me a very good insight into Insurance and encouraged me to look for a career in the field.
The Company
There was a good balance between working hard and having a joke around at times.
Good setup, although it might of been helpful to have a plan at the beginning to I could see exactly what I would be doing over the 8 week period.
I had lot's of different training sessions including excel, presentation training and some which were more specific to insurance and underwriting.
Company Parties/Events
No job offers are directly made from intern to grad. However the company are looking to change this and I feel I have a good chance of getting a grad scheme with Hiscox after interning with the company.
The Culture
Definately! I went out every week- either with my team or with fellow interns.
Being in London it was always going to be expensive- however the company had some good deals with nearby bars which got us half price drinks!
You can't really complain about the nightlife in London.
I was invited to various broker events and parties.
