The Role
The culture and facilities of the company are spectacular. I managed to do far more than I imagined by accepting the internship here.
I could tell I was doing real work (and not grunt work) and that I was helping the team. Everyone was welcoming and introduced themselves on my first day.
We were allocated a buddy (located nearby, can ask everyday questions), manager (personal development and work delegation) and mentor (senior in another part of the company). They were all very supportive and my mentor in particular went above and beyond what was expected of him.
Enough work to do but not too much, did not feel too stressed at any point.
I was given work that my manager would usually do so could see instantly how I was helping. I had to get in contact with many people around the company who were far more senior than myself.
They internship definitely tested my communication skills and ability to adapt. We also received lots of free training and could request more in any field that we were intereseted in. I am thankful for the experiences I have had at Nomura.
