The Role
I think it was enjoyable at some points and at others not so much. I really struggled to get an insight into what the department was about as a whole and my knowledge and work was on a shallow level.
I think because I worked on projects on my own which was over seen by my line manager, I had very limited interactions with the team as a whole. My manager was great and she made me feel very valued, saying thank you all the time.
My manager was great, she guided me every step of the way and made sure that we had regular catch ups to see how I was getting on.
I was relatively busy, I always had something to do even though sometimes I was doing things for doing sake. I wasn't ever idle and always had a task on hand.
I had hoped to be working on more original projects or working with or buddying with other department projects. I think my projects ended up being typical intern projects with admin and updating taking most of the time. I wouldn't say I was given that much responsibility and I think as a postgraduate student they department could have helped my actualise my potentials and capacity more. I suppose running a good internship programme that pushes people enough to maximise their potentials involved time and maybe they didn't invest that much time plus I was working on my dissertation so maybe that also prevented them I couldn't say.
I learnt a lot about a number of things. I think I could have learnt more and therefore the benefits of the internship have been limited. Above all I learnt a lot from my manager more than anything and she has taught me some important life skills.
The Company
The organisation as a whole is really jovial and the atmosphere was friendly. My department was slightly more reserved and less chatty.
The internship was very organised and monitored all through it. I think the organisation and execution was amazing.
They company distributed personal training development packs and I had some training with my manager.
Travel loan
I think there are prospects, I think it depends on their cycle.
The Culture
yeah definitely a good social scene
The internship was in London and the cost of living and socialising was so high and seeing I was unpaid the internship meant I was slightly handicapped in so many areas. Angel is nice with lots of restaurants but couldn't afford anything but yes defintely an expensive spot.
London has good nightlife, angel has lots of nice hangout spots couldn't afford to go so.
They had a few away days, one they forgot to book me a ticket and the other I couldn't attend because I was busy working on my project.
