The Role
Previous internships have been day to day processing/support function roles, however this internship was project based and provided me with a completely different skill set which is needed in a projects role. These are completely transferable skills that will assist me beyond my internship. In light of this it has been a very enjoyable internship experience not just because of the work but the people and the culture of social inclusion throughout the firm.
My colleagues treated me with respect and just like the rest of my team
my manager was on hand throughout the course of my internship, help with escalation, alternative approaches to getting work completed and for general help, guidance and advice.
My role was project based, and I was given the freedom to challenging the project and take ownership right from the beginning. The amount of work that I put in was down to me.

The Company
For the first 5 weeks of my internship I was moving around different seats every week so I didn’t get to experience the general atmosphere until the second half of my internship where I was in a permanent seat, the atmosphere was great and my colleagues have most certainly enhanced my experience
The structure of the internship was a great balance of classroom based learning, roundtables and lunch and learns. The was a good social aspect that was incorporated into the structure of the internship helping to get a good work/life balance
Because of the internship set up there is no formal qualifications offered such as the IOC or CIMA, however these are offered on the graduate programme. There was a variety of e-learning training courses available from project management, presentation and training on financial products.
