The Role
- Assigned a project to complete over the summer on estimating the UK's FDI position - Given help and support on Excel and STATA to run regressions - Subsidised canteen and flexible hours, along with direct link to the MPC were the real plus points
- The project would have been my line manager's task had I not been there, so the work was definitely valuable to the department - Had little interaction with other employees however as everyone's work within Monetary Analysis is quite separate
- Gave a presentation to Head of Division and head of my team along with around 15 other employees/interns at the end of the internship - Wrote up a note which will then be sent to the MPC, who decide on the interest rate once a month
- Much better now on Excel and interpreting Regressions, along with getting used to the usual routine skills like time management and communication
The Company
- Pretty quiet, although the camaraderie among the interns was very enjoyable - Employees leaving or who had finished writing the inflation report would leave out chocolates on desks for people to take at their leisure
- Given our own laptop for the duration and we could take it home if wanted - A couple of learning lunches with graduates were organised - An evening networking drinks session was organised with the likes of Mark Carney and Andy Haldane attending, which was very memorable!
Flexi Time

Working from home
- Graduate Job offer if you impress, option to join the Postgraduate Sponsorship Scheme (PSS) in some departments instead
