The Role
I enjoyed almost every aspect.
Obviously they have important roles to play within the bank, but they give you as much time as possible and are always as friendly and open as possible.
I could ask for feedback at any point and, given I sit 2 desks away from my line manager, I'm constantly being taught and given guidance about the role and what he expects
You're given things to do, but given the time and freedom to explore the trading floor.
It's a trading floor and having worked on both cash and derivative trading desks, there's very little that regulations would let you do.
Knowledge about the markets, time management, development of trading ideas and stratagies etc. etc.
The Company
You're surrounded by intelligant people who love their jobs and like spending time with each other. It's an awesome atmosphere to work in.
It was nearly perfectly organised. UBS obviously put a lot of time, effort and money into running a smooth internship.
The traders are perpetually busy, but they always took time out to spend time, often hours, explaining things to you.
Pretty good
The Culture
It wasn't as lively as it could have been, but there was definitely opportunities to go out. UBS also pay for about 5 socialising evening over the 9 weeks.
It's the heart of the city...
Shoreditch is a 10 minute walk away
There were a couple of talks, but nothing organised by UBS in particular, other than the drinks evenings.
