The Role
Very good experience - I was given responsibility in the tasks I undertook and enjoyed the learning experience a lot.
My work was/is used daily and I felt my colleagues came to me for advice on particular projects I had been working on.
Management is always available for a chat or to answer any queries which is a really useful structure to have in place given that a) I am not from a finance background, and b) this was my first internship.
I had 4 projects to manage which meant there was always some work to do - I did not feel bored during my time here
The projects I looked at involved key risk activities for the team, and producing guides / writing macros to save time in the long run meant that the work I undertook had consequences if not done properly - I was definitely given responsibility during my time here!
Efficient communication, increased awareness of how to reach a solution quickly, time management all helped, and will deifnitely prove useful in my final year at university, as well as in any career I enter.
The Company
Hard-working, not boring at all. People are always willing to spare a minute to speak to you, even as an intern.
Good set up - induction week followed by 8 weeks of work in a team which really provides a brilliant introduction to working in an investment bank. Also a few socials held which helps networking.
If the firm sees potential they are most definitely willing to invest - always received good feedback following a submission of work, or a presentation. Very useful to make sure you develop your strengths and work on weaknesses which may exist.
Company Parties/Events
Will enjoy working here - good atmosphere, friendly people and good challenging work to do.
The Culture
Yes - everyone is outgoing, and it was easy to organise intern events.
Central London is pretty expensive. But worth it.
Again, expensive, but worth it.
My working day finished approximately around 7pm, which meant that I could visit the gym, or see friends after work. The hours are not too bad.
