The Role
Very much enjoyed working in my team and on the projects I took part in. Made us feel very welcome and got a lot out of the work I did.
Extremely valued. Gave us as much attention as they could and as much as we required in order to completely our work to the standard they wanted it completed to.
Weekly catch-up meetings with out manager as well as a mid and end-of intern review.
Although given plenty of projects, when unable to go forward with them without assistance that was not available at the time, it was up to you as the intern to ask for more work from another source to keep busy.
With one of my daily tasks, I was given the responsibility to train a couple of the new graduates that started 8 weeks in to my intership on how to do the task.
Certainly brilliant for my first exposure of finance. My understanding of what the industry does and how it operates as well as what BlackRock and the department I worked in does and how it does it has greatly improved. Since I do economics, it is only partly relevant but it certainly will help with the Finance course I plan to do this coming year.
The Company
Work hard, play hard.
Very busy and liked how unplanned projects came when the work of the analysts and associated demanded it. Also able to ask for training sessions in areas we wanted as well as what our managers felt we needed so that we got the most possible out of the internship.
Training took up the time of those training us but they were happy to go out of their way to do this.

Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Very appealing. I worked on a great team doing interesting and demanding work.
The Culture
Went out as much as possible.
It's London so it was expensive but being a student in London, you know how to make it a bit cheaper.
It's London!
There are schemes going on all the time.
