The Role
It varied between employees, but overall everyone was welcoming and took the time to introduce themselves and involve me in work.
I felt comfortable with approaching a number of people asking for help on a task or just gerneral advice, and everyone was happy to take some time out to speak to me.
Even in short periods where I had completed all the available work from my teas, we had other tasks set as an intern class to be focusing on instead.
Generally the work given to me by my teams was meaningful and I had the responsibility to plan exactly how it would be carried out.
My time spent in a corporate environment was invaluable and has helped me to develop a number of skills that I was perhaps lacking prior to the internship.
The Company
A corporate environment is always going to require a serious atmosphere, but generally people got on well and social relationships were relatively informal.
The induction week especially was incredibly well-organised. The experience that UBS has with graduate placements clearly showed, as the experience was seamless.
The induction week involved a number of presentations/training sessions by a real variety of speakers, and throughout the internship employees invested a considerable amount of time in helping us with, viewing and then giving us feedback on various tasks aimed at improving different skills.

The Culture
There were a number of social events hosted by UBS which were a good way of getting to know interns from other divisions. The first social event was held at the OXO tower.
Although prices vary according to the type of venue, London is generally quite expensive.
There's so much variety in London, and a number of nightlife options in Shoreditch which is just a short walk away from where I worked.
I don't feel as though I was well informed about any sporting activities to get involved in, but I was given the chance to attend a volunteering day. This was a great chance to get out of the office and work as a team with UBS employees that you would be unlikely to come across otherwise.
