The Role
My role allowed me to get a broad understanding of the whole activities of the bank. I got exposure to the full trade lifecycle which I consider invaluable going into my future career, where my aim is to enter a front office role.
All colleagues were willing to help with any questions and offer time to provide an insight into their personal roles within the business. Most we very willing to allow me to shadow them even at short notice. My team gave me tasks which held relevance and importance to the overall activites of the team right from the start of the internship.
This was largely good. At times I found myself waiting in order to check the work I had done or get updates on relevant areas of information, however can largely be put down to the team being busy and regularly being given tasks with short deadlines.
This was very well balanced at the start. My workload was perfectly balanced to allow me to spend time with other teams in a shadowing role. However in the final couple of weeks the quantity of work I was given reduced somewhat. This was mainly due to the typical project length of my team being aprroximately 3 weeks. This meant that giving me new workloads would leave them unfinished at the time I came to leave.
The job I was given held true responibility and real importance to the business as a whole. As well as having responsibility within my team, I was also able to work directly with other teams within the division as the sole representative from my own team.
I have developed a wide range of professional skills. The experience of spending time in a high intesity ofice environment is invaluable as I look to gain the first role of my professional career.
The Company
Largely good. A good social scene existed in the office while a good balance between work/fun was present.
The structure of the internship was clear from the start. We started with a 3 day training course, on which the first day was spent outlining the various activites and events we would be involved in.
The initial training was relatively short lived and rather basic. This was mainly to bring all people up to the same level as there was a huge variance in pre-internship knowledge. However once we had started our roles at ou desks the support was very good. We had regular roundtables with team managers who explained the role and function of their team within both the division and also the Org as a whole.

The organisation is a fantastic one to work for. There is great culture and you seem to be well rewarded for good work.
The Culture
Our group of interns has been relatively tame considering the good pay and location of the office. I got was lucky and had a lot of University friends close by.
It's the City of London.
Great nightlife and lots to do in London.
Public speaking groups, very advanced charity network, office sports teams, local volunteering.
