The Role
It was a unique experience, which involved activites that I had not done before.
I was treated very well by my colleagues, and made lasting friendships with people around me.
I was given most the help I needed by my line manager and other colleagues.
The first few weeks weren't particularly busy, but towards the end of the internship I occupied most of my time with work.
I took part in 5 projects, and saw 4 of them to the finish. In terms of responsibility I believe I was given a fair amount of work and responsibility as I was involved in risk related projects which are given huge emphasis.
The skills I have gained during this internship will be greatly useful to me, as along with the technical skills, I've also gained competency skills etc.
The Company
I was in a fairly relaxed office, and at times it may have been dull, but mostly it was intriguing to see a corporate work environment.
The first few weeks were fairly slow due to joiner requests being handled slowly, but it did speed up towards the end, and with networking events, it turned out to be a fairly well organised internship.
I believe I was given great attention to when it came to training and development. My colleagues and my lm explained a vast number of concepts to me.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
I would be looking forwards to acquiring a grad role in UBS.
The Culture
The interaction between interns was great. We had a number of opportunities to get together and spend time.
In terms of cost, the area I worked in had a street food market which reduced it drastically. Socialising wasn't a huge problem as the venues in the area weren't high priced.
I'm sure it's very active, but I wasn't particularly interested in that side of the area.
There were a number of activities I took part in with colleagues from UBS outside work. It's not difficult to create opportunities when working a 9-5pm shift.
