The Role
Very enjoyable - I was allowed a lot of freedom with my work, as well as getting the experience to go offshore.
Some of my work was important for management but not really for many people in the actual office. In Windsor I had an extra opportunity to get involved in another project and add my ideas, which was very satisfying!
My Line Manager met with me a few times during the placement to talk about my progress and how I was getting on. The team in Windsor also kept me updated on information through phonecalls, giving me information.
Busy at some periods, a bit quiter with others, balanced out quite well.
Some responsibility during projects - some of it was collating information which did not require a lot of resposibility.
More in the personal development side - networking, communication. A good overview of Engineering in Power Generation.
The Company
Casual - less informal than some corporate offices. Took a while for me to get in my comfort zone but it was fun after that.
Overall Centrica Summer Placement is very organised. It would've been nice to have some more support between the Central Grad team and the Engineering Stream, however I do not know how much other teams got.
Helped me get offshore training!
Very good grad scheme!
The Culture
Organised events to get together, would've liked more though!
Accommodation was free! Cheap.
Good - plenty of bars
